Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that President Vladimir Putin met with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff late yesterday evening, Orda reports, citing RIA Kremlin Pool.
During the meeting, the Russian side received information from Washington and conveyed "additional signals" to President Donald Trump, according to Novaya Gazeta.
Peskov emphasized that a conversation between Putin and Trump is anticipated soon, with the date to be determined after Witkoff reports back to the U.S. President:
There is an understanding that it (a conversation between Putin and Trump - Ed.) is needed. he said.
Peskov also denied claims that U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg was excluded from talks at Moscow's request.
President Putin had recently expressed reservations about an unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, citing unresolved issues with the initiative.
