Tigran Keosayan, a Russian director and TV host, has fallen into a coma.
His wife Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT and prominent Kremlin media figure, shared the news.
My husband, Tigran Keosayan, has suffered clinical death and is in a coma. As many people know, he had a very bad heart a long time ago. I don't know how to record circles (a Telegram video function - Ed.) in the intensive care unit and take selfies of my sobs, so please forgive me for not writing on social media.
Tigran Keosayan had previously been banned from entering Kazakhstan after making controversial statements suggesting that "Kazakhstan may suffer the fate of Ukraine."
This declaration came after he expressed anger over Kazakhstan's cancellation of a military parade in spring 2022. He further suggested that "Russian officials should review the level of relations."
These comments prompted Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to declare him persona non grata and spurred public backlash.
There have been other controversial statements about Kazakhstan from Russian media figures, including TV presenter Tina Kandelaki, who made similar contentious remarks about Kazakhstanis in December 2024.
