Telegram founder Pavel Durov spoke at the Digital Bridge international forum in Astana, Orda.kz reports.
He opened his speech with a joke:
Many successful people have told me they're coming to Kazakhstan to find a wife. Unfortunately, that's not why I'm here. I came to talk about artificial intelligence, Durov said.
He described AI as an "obstructive element" that will drastically reshape society, noting that the outcome depends on whether it is approached with fear or confidence.
In his view, Kazakhstan is choosing optimism:
"Of course, there will be many challenges, but they can be addressed with AI. This will be a golden age —an era of abundance for everyone."
Durov recalled that Telegram opened its first regional office in Kazakhstan a year ago. He then made a new announcement:
Today, I'm proud to announce the opening of AI labs in the Alem.Ai building. The first project will be a collaboration between Telegram and Kazakhstan's supercomputer cluster. It will be launched here with the support of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence.
According to Durov, the team has been developing a new technology that combines blockchain and AI.
It will allow more than a billion users to access neural network tools powered by a decentralized computing system.
