During a January 31 press conference, Armenia's Prime Minister discussed his recent January 17 phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Orda reports, citing Armenia News.
While acknowledging mutual concerns between the two nations, Pashinyan outlined a nuanced approach:
During the recent conversation with the Russian president, we discussed not only EU-related topics but also current EAEU processes and our bilateral relations. This falls within the framework of our bilateral relations and relations with the EAEU, he said.
The Prime Minister openly acknowledged tensions, noting that while Russia has expressed concerns about Armenia's moves toward EU membership, Armenia harbors its own about Russian policies and positions.
This is a fact, but it's also a fact that we continue and will continue dialogue with Russia, and it's also a fact that we will deepen relations with the EU, Pashinyan stated at the press conference.
He emphasized that discussions about Armenia's EU aspirations would proceed without intimidation, stating that relations between Yerevan and Moscow "will never be conducted in a language of threats."
