On Friday, the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration of Armenia's National Assembly issued a positive opinion on the bill "On Initiating the Process of Armenia's Accession to the European Union," Orda reports, citing News Armenia.
The Armenian government approved the draft on January 9, 2024.
However, the State Legal Expertise Department of Parliament's Expert-Analytical Division negatively assessed this legislative initiative, citing errors in many legal formulations.
The bill's initiators - the civil initiative "Platform of Democratic Forces" - collected 60,000 signatures over 2 months (the law requires 50,000 signatures for a project to be submitted to parliament).
The bill aims to confirm the will and determination of the Armenian people and its current government to join the EU.
