More than 650,000 Kazakhstanis remain on the waiting list for state-provided housing, including veterans, orphans, large families, socially vulnerable groups, and civil servants. This was announced by Bakytzhan Zhunisbekov, Chair of the Committee for Construction and Housing and Public Utilities under the Ministry of Industry and Construction, Orda.kz reports.
At a briefing, Zhunisbekov stated that the responsibility for housing distribution will be shifted from regional Akimats to Otbasy Bank.
The change aims to streamline the process and ensure fairness in decision-making.
First of all, this is a transition to a 'single window' format. It simplifies the procedure for monitoring, maintaining, and distributing housing. Now a single operator will do this work. In addition, the system is integrated into a single information platform, which will make the process more transparent and convenient for citizens,
Zhunisbekov explained.
He emphasized that the transfer of distribution authority to Otbasy Bank will not impact the overall waiting time.
The speed at which housing is provided still depends entirely on the pace of construction, while the bank will serve solely as a distribution mechanism.
Zhunisbekov also noted that the government continues to support the construction of both social and market housing. These sectors have seen growth in recent years, aided by infrastructure development and subsidies on interest rates.
A more comprehensive development strategy is also under consideration to accelerate construction.
