In the first nine months of this year, 934 workers were injured in workplace accidents across Kazakhstan, 133 of whom died, Orda.kz reports.

According to the State Labor Inspectorate Committee, one in three accidents occurred due to management negligence.

Despite the high figures, officials note a 3.4% decrease in the overall rate of industrial injuries compared to the same period last year.

High injury rates persist in the republic's industrial regions. For example, 103 people were injured in the Qaraganda region, 89 in the East Kazakhstan region, 68 in Pavlodar, 64 in Aqtobe, and 48 in Atyrau. Fifty-one people were also injured in Almaty. By industry, the highest number of injuries was recorded in the mining and metallurgical complex (17.4%) and in the construction industry (10.2%),
the committee said in a statement.

The main causes cited include poor work organization (34.2%), employee negligence (33.6%), safety violations (8.5%), and road accidents (7.8%).

Authorities have opened 211 criminal cases related to workplace violations.
