A company from East Kazakhstan will begin producing equipment for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, Orda.kz reports.
The Ust-Kamenogorsk Valve Plant and CPC have signed an agreement in the presence of government officials, with plant CEO Alexander Budris and consortium head Nikolai Gorban formalizing the deal.
The document aims to promote import substitution and expand the use of Kazakhstani equipment at main oil pipeline facilities. The companies plan to manufacture shutoff valves, pumping units, and electric motors, as well as establish maintenance, modernization, and testing of the equipment, the government press service reported.
The two sides also committed to supplying the CPC with domestically produced materials and components and to developing joint technological solutions.
The agreement comes as repairs continue at CPC’s damaged Black Sea berth.
Bloomberg reports that the work is dragging on and is now expected to last until at least December 15. Only one of the terminal’s three single-point moorings is functioning, leading to a decline in shipments and raising the risk of temporary production cuts if storage capacities max out.
