Oral Woman Learns Her Missing Husband Died Fighting for Russia in Ukraine

The woman said that in the spring, her husband left for work in Astana and stopped communicating, Orda.kz reports, citing Uralskaya Nedelya.
On October 15, the Ukrainian project "I Want to Live" published a list of Kazakhstanis who fought on Russia's side in Ukraine. It was there that a woman from Oral (Uralsk) found her husband.
30-year-old Alexey Sergeyev is number 191:
The woman said she got married last year. It was Alexey Sergeev's second marriage. Eight months ago, their daughter was born, and soon after, he left for Astana to find work. He last contacted his wife on March 27th.
Then, he stopped communicating.
The "I Want to Live" list indicates that Sergeyev served in the 103rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the Ukrainian website Deep State, this unit is participating in the battle for Toretsk, which has been ongoing since February 2025. The Oral resident's date of death is listed as July 11, 2025.
At the same time, according to his wife, Alexey Sergeev was banned from leaving Kazakhstan.

Now, Nadezhda is trying to obtain her husband’s death certificate and find out where his body is so she can bury him.
The list published by the "I Want to Live" project includes 270 names of Kazakh citizens who died fighting on Russia's side. Orda.kz previously reported on attempts to recruit Kazakhstan citizens for the war with Ukraine through social media ads.
On May 1, 2025, the Ukrainian project also released a list, naming 1,110 Uzbek citizens under contract with the Russian military.
