Oral: Ministry of Culture and Information Comments on Journalist Attacked in Court

The Ministry of Culture and Information vowed to provide Talgat Umarov, a journalist for Umarovnews, with legal assistance, Orda.kz reports.
The incident occurred the day before during the decision on the appeal of Yerzhan Kadyrbayev, the son of an Oral judge, and his friend Yernaz Satpayev.
Talgat Umarov was among those covering the trial. At the end of the hearing, one defendant's father reportedly struck the journalist in the face.
The Ministry is ready to provide comprehensive assistance to Talgat Umarov in protecting his rights, including providing a lawyer, and also reminds that obstruction of lawful journalistic activity is subject to criminal liability, The Ministry of Culture and Information reported.
The attack on Talgat Umarov was also called unacceptable and outrageous by the department.
The Ministry added that all participants in legal proceedings must comply with the law and respect the rights of media representatives.
