In the Mangystau Oblast, a court has upheld sentences against employees of Oil Transport Corporation and a contractor firm working in the oil and gas sector. The defendants were found guilty of embezzling more than 250 million tenge, Orda.kz reports.
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, inspections carried out last year at industry enterprises revealed violations in the acceptance of equipment at Oil Transport Corporation LLP, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas.
The investigation led to the arrest of three individuals, including senior figures from both the company and its contractor.
Following the trial, the deputy general director of Oil Transport Corporation was sentenced to three years of restricted freedom for abuse of office that caused grave consequences.
Two representatives of the contractor company received two years of restricted freedom each.
“The convicted reimbursed more than 250 million tenge,” the prosecutor’s office emphasized.
In its press release, the agency referred to the company as LLP Oil Transport Corporation — apparently the same subsidiary of KazMunayGas established in 2002 through the merger of four major enterprises.
Since its creation, the company has provided transportation services to JSC MangystauMunayGas and other KMG subsidiaries at the Kalamkas and Jetybay fields.
