The Qostanay region Anti-corruption Service has completed an investigation into the Chair and a deputy of the Beimbet Mailin district maslikhat, reports Orda.kz.
According to investigators, the maslikhat Chair offered a bribe (two million tenge) to employees of the regional audit department. A deputy served as an intermediary in transferring the money.
The official wanted auditors to overlook violations found in government procurement.
Previously, the state audit department discovered that government tenders were being won by a company affiliated with the maslikhat Chair.
On January 23, the Prosecutor's Office sent the case to court. Details are currently withheld in the interests of the investigation.
Earlier, it was revealed that deputies in the Aqtobe region had devised a dormitory scheme and misappropriated nearly 700 million tenge.
