Number of New Citizens of Kazakhstan Hits Five-Year Low

In 2024, Kazakhstan granted nationality to 20.2 thousand individuals, marking a 25% decrease compared to 2023. This figure is the lowest recorded over the past five years, according to Data Hub, Orda.kz reports.
A significant portion of the new citizens, approximately 77% (15.7 thousand people), are Qandases, ethnic Kazakhs relocating to Kazakhstan.
This percentage has increased slightly from 76% (20.5 thousand people) in 2023.
The Almaty region attracts the most new citizens, accounting for 26% of all citizenship grants. The capital comes in second, contributing 9%, while the Turkestan region follows closely with 8%.
In contrast, the Baikonur, Ulytau, and Qyzylorda regions saw the fewest new residents choosing to settle there.
