Nine-month Flood Relief: Qostanay Officially Finishes Restoration Operations, State of Emergency Lifted

The City's Akim, Marat Zhundubayev, announced the completion of all restoration work and officially announced the lifting of the state of emergency that had been in effect since April 6, Orda.kz correspondent reports.
It took local authorities nine months to restore the destroyed facilities.
The high water caused significant damage to residential buildings, summer cottages, and businesses in the coastal zone. Also, it damaged new infrastructure - the Triathlon Park, the Chagala Embankment, the tennis center, and other facilities near the Tobol River.
98 apartments were purchased for Qostanay residents left without housing, 14 one-story houses were built in the Qonay micro-district. 97 out of 106 houses were repaired. All work to alleviate the emergency has been fully completed. As of today, the state of emergency has been officially lifted, The Akim of Kostanay, Marat Zhundubayev, announced today at a meeting with city residents.
In addition, 112 buildings in the Kolesnye Ryady area and an emergency pedestrian bridge in the Chagala Park area were dismantled in the summer.
The state of emergency in Qostanay was introduced on April 5, 2024. At that time, the situation worsened due to the overflow of the Qaratomar reservoir. The Akim of Qostanay, Marat Zhundubayev, called the disaster an "unprecedented flood."
