Orda.kz reports on the latest hearing in the case of Khasan Kasymbayev and his associates.
At the start of the session, the defense again demanded that journalists be admitted to the courtroom. Judge Ainagul Tukibayeva refused, reminding the parties that she had already given all explanations on the matter.
She said it was unacceptable for the media to publish videos and details of the proceedings.
This time, testimony was given by MMA fighter Arman Aliyev, a victim in the case. He had previously described how he suffered at the hands of Kasymbayev and his friends. His lawyers now presented video evidence to the court showing a crowd of people attacking the athlete.
The second victim, Aripzhan Tazhibayev, testified online.
Due to technical issues, his statement was cut short and rescheduled. He only managed to say that he had known Kasymbayev since 2016 but did not know his alleged accomplices. The judge requested that he appear in person to give testimony.
The next hearing is set for September 10.
Following the death of Sherzat Polat in Talgar, rumors circulated about the existence of the “Khutor” organized crime group and Kasymbayev’s role in it. He has denied the allegations, stating that “his conscience is clear.”
Kasymbayev was arrested in November 2024. The investigation concluded in the summer of 2025, and on July 29, the case was sent to court by the prosecutor’s office.
Orda.kz continues to monitor the trial.
