A large-scale infrastructure project has been launched in Almaty by Kedentransservice, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Joly (KTZ), in cooperation with China’s Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation, Orda.kz reports.
The modern container terminal, ZHETYSU, is expected to become a strategic hub for consolidating cargo flows and the largest import hub in Kazakhstan. The terminal’s projected capacity is 115,000 TEU per year. This capacity is expected to strengthen transport connectivity and reduce logistics costs.
On the day of the opening, the first container train arrived at the terminal, sent from the Kazakhstan-China cargo terminal in Xi’an (PRC).
