The new metro line will start from the city of Alatau, pass through the Mizam market, and connect to the Sayran station, Orda.kz reports.

Two tenders have been posted on the state procurement website for the preparation of feasibility studies for two segments of the proposed line. The first section will extend from Alatau to the Mizam market; the second, from Mizam to Sayran station. The project is expected to be implemented in phases.

The customer is the Almaty City Mobility Department, and the basis for the work is a resolution by the Akimat dated April 18, 2025.

    Project Scope

The project includes route planning, passenger flow forecasting, site selection, station design, environmental protection measures, and accessibility infrastructure. The use of domestically produced construction materials is also planned.

Context and Development Goals

Earlier, Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev stated that the new city of Alatau is envisioned as a regional hub for investment, technology, and talent, comparable to Dubai in Central Asia.

Unlike previous projects funded through the state budget, such as in Astana, this development is expected to rely on a competitive private sector environment.
