The Jambyl region police department head, Armanbek Baimurzin, is set to leave his post with almost his entire team. Orda's sources have revealed the names of potential replacements.
Among the candidates is Bakytzhan Malybayev, who is currently the head of the transport police department. Malybayev is originally from the Korday district and has held senior positions in the Astana police. The high-ranking officer made headlines due to a 2019 rally in the capital. During detentions, unknown individuals in masks attacked the media representatives at the time. Several journalists criticized law enforcement for ignoring the request to take action.
Malibayev's name also appeared in the media during protests in Almaty when police detained elderly people and mothers with children, loading them all into a paddy wagon.

The second candidate is Arystangali Zapparov, who is originally from the Jualyn district. He was the head of the police department of the Qyzylorda and Almaty regions. He currently heads the Almaty police department, a post he took up after the January Events, replacing Serik Kudebayev, who was convicted in a January Events case.
Our sources also say the new appointee could be Kaiyrken Aliyev, the Ulytau region's police chief. A native of the Janaarka district, he has been working in the internal affairs agencies since 2000 and held various positions in the Karaganda region's DP.
The fourth contender is Arman Sadanov, who currently works as acting head of the Jetisu regional police department. His predecessor, Atygay Arystanov, was fired after a sexual assault scandal.
Sadanov was recently seen in Merka during the funeral of a police officer who died in a traffic accident.

Baizhan Baigeldi is also being considered. He is the only one who managed to maintain his position following the house cleaning. The colonel oversees the work of the operational criminal service and the legal department. He came to the department of the Jambyl region just two months ago, on July 3, 2024.

Baizhan Baigeldi is the nephew of Omirbek Baigeldi, the former Senate Chair and adviser to the ex-president of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to publicly available data, the late Omirbek Baigeldi received the titles of Honored Worker of Kazakhstan and Honorary Resident of the Jambyl Region.
