The investigator in the case was again replaced following a complaint filed by human rights activist Inga Imanbay. Imanbay filed it with the Prosecutor General’s Office as “the investigation was at a standstill,” Orda.kz reports.
Lawyer Inga Imanbay, representing the interests of Yerbayan Mukhtar's family, commented on the investigation's progress.
Currently, two criminal cases related to military personnel and doctors are being investigated by the head of the department of the Southern Regional Military Investigative Department, Colonel E. Alibay. Let's see how the investigator's high position will affect the course of the investigation, she said.
Inga Imanbay also stated that she was not shown the case video materials.
For review, they wanted to receive an acknowldgement for 'non-disclosure of information on the case.' Of course, I did not agree to this. I am preparing a complaint regarding this fact. Because if I sign such an acknowldgement, I will not be able to tell you, the public, the truth about the case,
the lawyer said.
She also reported that the forensic medical examination report is still not ready.
We hope that the expert opinion with the participation of Takhir Khalimnazarov will be objective. (...) I am convinced that only public control will help us achieve justice in the Yerbayan case, added Inga Imanbay.
Takhir Khalimnazarov, who drew up a conclusion on the causes of Saltanat Nukenova’s injuries and testified in the trial of Kuandyk Bishimbayev, was previously included in the expert commission at the request of the Yerbayan family.
