Monument to Abay Unveiled in Ashgabat

Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow unveiled a monument to Abay, a famous Kazakh writer, thinker, and classicist, in Turkmenistan's capital.
The former President of Turkmenistan awarded the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan the medal "On the 300th Anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fragi." In the summer, the monument to the Turkmen poet was opened in Astana. The Khalk Maslakhaty Chair, Berdimuhamedow, and Kazakhstan's Senate Speaker, Ashimbayev, attended the ceremony.


Toqayev noted that the monument to the Kazakh philosopher and educator in Ashgabat manifests the brotherly Turkmen's respect for our people.
Abay is an remarkable personality of global significance. His works have become a legacy for all of humanity. Monuments have been erected in honor of our thinker in many cities around the world. Now there is a monument to the writer in the capital of Turkmenistan, and it will become a symbol of our friendship.
Toqayev added that the works of Abay and Makhtumkuli are valuable contributions to the entire Turkic world.
