President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev paid tribute to his mother, Turar Shabarbayeva, in an Instagram post, highlighting her significant role in his life, reports Orda.kz.
Toqayev noted that his family did not live in wealth. His mother spent many years managing the household and raising four children, and she remained a modest person throughout her life.
Although my mother was still a young woman, she would always forgo many things. It is natural to want to dress beautifully and wear jewelry, but my mother devoted her entire life to her children and honorably fulfilled her maternal duty until the end of her short life,
wrote Toqayev.
He recalled that it was his mother who helped him make a crucial decision after the fall of the Soviet Union, when he had to choose between staying in Moscow or returning to Astana:
“If your father were alive, he would tell you to serve in Kazakhstan without a second thought.”
At the time, he had been working in the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1975.
Toqayev also recalled her advice about staying honest and resisting temptation to preserve his integrity before the country.
My mother always said that, of course officials are getting rich fast, but such a way of life does not lead to anything proper,
he shared.
Concluding, the President said that his mother often encouraged him to observe the world thoughtfully, remain composed, and learn from those with strong personalities, adopting only helpful characteristics:
In the morning, think about what you'll do during the day and evening. You must be composed, as a person who hurries and panics is sure to falter,
Toqayev added.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported that as part of the Victory Day events on May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Toqayev with a declassified award sheet nominating his father for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
