Military Court Sentences Officer for Assaulting Cadet

A military unit commander has been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a cadet, Orda.kz reports.
The incident took place in June 2024. During morning formation in the barracks, the commander, who held a superior rank and position, struck the cadet in the stomach.
As a result, the victim suffered bodily injury in the form of a bruise in the area of the costal arch on the right. The guilt of the convicted person was proven by the testimony of the victim, witnesses and the expert, expert opinions, the protocol of the inspection of the scene of the crime and other case materials,the press service of the Military Court stated.
The court of first instance issued a three-year prison sentence. The officer appealed, requesting an acquittal, but the appellate court upheld the initial verdict.
The court did not disclose the specific military unit or region where the incident occurred.
