A test run for the delivery of lithium-ion batteries from China along the Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), is planned for December, Orda.kz reports.
Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Marat Karabayev and his Chinese counterpart Liu Wei agreed upon this at a meeting in Beijing.
The parties discussed the growth in transportation between the two countries.
Since the beginning of the year, for example, rail transportation has grown by 13%, reaching 26.6 million tons, and road transportation increased by 60% in the third quarter, amounting to 1.9 million tons.
As for the Trans-Caspian route, the volume of container transportation from China to Europe has increased 25 times.
The ministers discussed the possibility of creating new routes and developing cargo transportation via transboundary rivers between Kazakhstan and China,
informs the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan and China have previously agreed to accelerate the digitalization of international road transport.
Transport documents are processed in just an hour through an electronic platform.
