On April 10, a forceful police raid took place at the “Bodrost” bathhouse complex in Moscow, owned by a Kyrgyz entrepreneur, Orda reports.
According to video footage shared by Zhogorku Kenesh deputy Janar Akaev, a group of individuals accompanied by OMON (riot police) stormed the facility and used excessive force to detain dozens of Kyrgyz nationals.
Compatriots, can you even comprehend that a large group of people, together with OMON, broke into a bathhouse owned by a Kyrgyz entrepreneur and brutally assaulted our fellow citizens?! Not long ago, they stormed another building belonging to a Kyrgyz businessman and beat people worse than any gang or terrorist group would. Aren’t we members of the EAEU, allies, strategic partners — and are we just going to allow hundreds of our compatriots to be beaten and remain silent? the MP said.
Today, Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an emergency meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziyev and Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Sergey Vakunov, according to 24.KG.
During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side presented an official diplomatic Note demanding an explanation for the raid in Moscow.
A request was made to take effective measures to protect the rights of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and to prevent such incidents in the future, as they may harm the allied and strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia,
the ministry emphasized.
The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry is also calling for detailed information on the reasons behind the detentions, the use of force against Kyrgyz citizens, and — should misconduct be confirmed — accountability for those law enforcement officers involved.
