Memorial Held in Almaty in Honor of Svetlana Nazarbayeva

A memorial dinner was held in Almaty over the weekend in memory of Svetlana Nazarbayeva, the sister-in-law of Kazakhstan’s first president, Orda.kz reports.
Among those present was Kairat Satybaldyulu. His brother, Samat Abish, did not appear to be in attendance based on available footage.
Svetlana Nazarbayeva was the wife of Satybaldy Nazarbayev, the younger brother of the former president. She passed away in October last year at the age of 77. After her husband’s death in a car accident in 1981, she raised their sons, Kairat Satybaldyulu and Samat Abish, on her own.
During her life, Svetlana Myrzakhmetovna dedicated herself to education and publishing. She was born in the village of Lepsy, Almaty Region, graduated from Abay Kazakh Pedagogical Institute, and earned a PhD in pedagogy. She began her career as a teacher of Russian language and literature, later becoming the head of a school and a gymnasium. She authored eight textbooks.
Starting in 2003, she had led the Republican Printing and Publishing Complex Däuir.
