Major oil and gas company MangystauMunayGas plans to appeal to Kazakhstan's Supreme Court after being fined 32 billion tenge for environmental violations in the Qarakiya District.

The company has also filed an appeal with the Mangystau Regional Court.

While the company maintains it adheres to environmental regulations and safety standards, prosecutors say wastewater was dumped into the subsoil and accumulated drilling waste. This is permitted by law but with a specific limit.
