An investigation is underway in the Mangystau region into the death of a young construction worker. On November 4, 20-year-old Nursultan Sharipov fell from the sixth floor into an open elevator shaft and died at a construction site in the Munay district, Orda.kz reports.
The accident occurred while workers were lifting a trough of sand used for making lime. As the crane raised the load to the top floor, Nursultan stepped back to make room, but suddenly lost his balance and fell.
An ambulance arrived 20–30 minutes later, but doctors could only pronounce him dead.
Sharipov was officially employed by the individual entrepreneur “Sariyev S. Zh.,” and the developer on the project was AN-GroupM LLC. Regulations require employers to report such incidents to the labor inspectorate within 24 hours, but no notification was submitted. According to the agency, this appears to have been an attempt to conceal the incident.
The State Labor Inspectorate has now set up a special commission. Experts are examining why the worker was near the open shaft and whether safety rules were violated at the site. Based on the results of the inspection, administrative measures will be taken against the employer.
Additional information will be provided once the investigation is complete.
