He struck a fatal blow to the neck during an argument, Orda.kz reports.
The Specialized Interdistrict Criminal Court of Jambyl Region has sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for the homicide of his pregnant wife. The crime took place in August 2024 in the village of Masanchi, Qorday District.
According to the investigation, during a family argument, the man — fully aware of his wife’s pregnancy — stabbed her in the neck with a sharp object, causing her death.
The woman died at the scene. The defendant’s guilt was confirmed by expert reports, witness testimony, and a crime scene inspection.
The prosecutor’s office requested an 18-year sentence.
However, the court considered the fact that the convicted man has minor children as a mitigating factor and handed down the minimum sentence under Article 99, Part 2, Clause 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan — 15 years. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
Earlier, we reported that in the village of Balasaz, Jetisu Region, relatives of 32-year-old Aizat Dzhumanova alleged the homicide of their pregnant relative by her husband.
According to them, the woman was tortured for several hours, tied to a horse saddle, and dragged along the ground. The case was classified as "causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death by negligence," but the family is demanding it be reclassified as homicide with particular cruelty.
