Major Highway Pileup in Aqmola Region: 20 Injured, Rescue Operations Ongoing

Emergency crews are currently responding to the major pileup on the Astana-Petropavlovsk highway.
According to KazAvtoJol, as of 7 PM on January 3, rescue teams have recovered 24 of the 95 vehicles, while 30 could drive away.
Forty-one vehicles remain at the scene, where 34 pieces of equipment and 20 personnel are working.
A mobile station is providing hot meals and tea to those affected.
The accident injured 20 people, including eight children. They are being treated at three facilities.

Two children from Astana were hospitalized: a toddler (born 2021) with suspected head trauma and a teenager (born 2009) with chest and knee injuries.
All hospitalized patients are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that this evening, patrol police officers organized the escort of several motorcades on national highways.
The main reasons were the deterioration of the weather in the Aqmola region, as well as the above accident.
