Majilis to Discuss Ban on Niqab, Says Culture Minister

A regulation prohibiting the wearing of the niqab will soon be reviewed by deputies, according to Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, Orda.kz reports.

There is no separate law. There is a norm in the draft law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it concerns security and provides for a ban on niqabs. And this norm is now in the Majilis. There will soon be a discussion in the first reading, as far as I know,
said Aida Balayeva on the sidelines of Aqorda.
