In the Majilis, deputy Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov submitted an official request to Deputy Prime Minister Galymzhan Kosherbayev, expressing concern about the influence of foreign non-governmental organizations on young people and calling for tighter control, Orda.kz reports.
Humanity is witnessing phenomena that have never been seen or heard of before. As it turns out, immorality and amorality know no bounds, the deputy stated.
Referring to a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, he added:
Let anyone of you who sees something reprehensible change it with his own hand… and if he cannot do that, then with his heart, and this will be the weakest manifestation of faith.
Ashimzhanov argued that young people’s values are being undermined by propaganda on social media, particularly TikTok. He accused certain organizations of encouraging teenagers toward “immoral behavior” while being funded from abroad.
The vile activities of these organizations, aimed at corrupting youth and destroying families, are financed from abroad. They interfere in the internal affairs of our country and spread ideas that are alien to our national identity, the request states.
Specifically, the deputy cited the organization “Feminita,” claiming it shared invitations in school chat groups to an event “where children were promised to be told about sex and taught to be homosexuals or lesbians.”
He also noted that over 50,000 citizens had signed a petition against LGBT, yet the state had not issued an adequate response.
In his request, Ashimzhanov proposed the following measures:
- Strengthen oversight over content on social networks, especially content targeting children
- Complete and publish a study on the impact of LGBT content
- Develop a concept for promoting traditional moral values
- Review and prohibit the involvement of NGOs with foreign funding that promote values contrary to Kazakhstani traditions from working with children
If the government does not begin to actively monitor the activities of international funds and organizations, it may already be too late, Ashimzhanov warned.
