Lufthansa to Suspend Kazakhstan Flights

Lufthansa will suspend flights from Germany to Kazakhstan between October 26, 2025, and March 29, 2026, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport confirmed, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministry cited several reasons for the temporary halt. Due to Russia’s war with Ukraine, Lufthansa must bypass Russian airspace, which significantly increases flight times and operational costs.
Another major factor is a shortage of aircraft. Lufthansa is reportedly facing delays in the delivery of new planes and spare parts.
“Many global airlines are currently experiencing delays in receiving ordered aircraft, forcing them to revise their flight schedules,” the Ministry noted.
The decision also comes amid a seasonal decline in passenger numbers.
“We emphasize that Lufthansa’s flights to Astana and Almaty have been operated at the airline’s own initiative to maintain passenger load,” the statement added.
