LRT Promised to Be Launched by 2025's End

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov came to inspect the progress of the LRT (light rail transport) construction in Astana, Orda.kz reports.

Today, the stage of laying the LRT overpass beams has been completed. The construction of the main reinforced concrete structures of the stations is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. Next year, the rails will be laid, the stations will be finished, and the depot with the delivery of rolling stock will be built, and the under-overpass section along Kabanbay Batyr Avenue and Kaldayakov Street will be improved, the Akim reported.
The LRT line will stretch 22.5 km in total. Along 18 stations, 19 units of rolling stock with a capacity of 652 people will run. The interval between trains will be 4-5 minutes.
At the initial stage, the passenger flow is expected to be 25 thousand people per day, while the maximum passenger flow during peak hours can reach 92 thousand people per day. The payment system is provided similar to the city one, by validating a transport card or paying via QR code, the government clarified.
The chair of the Board of Directors of LLP, Asylbek Duisenbaev, "City Transportation Systems," stated that the launch of LRT is planned before the end of 2025. In 2023, the launch was promised before the end of this year.
