Kazakhstan exported 8.1 million tons of grain by rail in 2024. Uzbekistan is the largest buyer at 3.3 million tons, followed by China with 1.7 million tons, Orda reports.
Tajikistan imported 1.2 million tons, a 20% increase from the previous year.
After the market was restored, the volume of grain deliveries to Iran doubled — to 526 thousand tons, to Azerbaijan — by 1.8 times — to 211 thousand tons, the Ministry reported, citing data from national rail carrier KTZ.
The Ministry also noted strengthened trade with Kyrgyzstan, where exports nearly doubled to 140,000 tons.
While Kazakhstan celebrated a record harvest with international sales up 57% to 3.9 million tons, domestic farmers face ongoing challenges with surplus management and delayed subsidy payments.
