Lawyer, Local Deputy Nurlan Baigaziyev Assaulted in Taraz

In Taraz, Ili district maslikhat deputy from Almaty region, Nurlan Baigaziyev, was attacked, Orda.kz reports.
The incident occurred on the evening of May 13 at a local café. Baigaziyev was assaulted by unidentified individuals and sustained serious injuries, reportedly from blows delivered with brass knuckles.
According to the Jambyl Region Health Department, Baigaziyev was admitted with a fracture of the left zygomatic bone with displacement.
There were no external wounds. He remained at the medical facility for approximately six hours.
He was provided with full medical care in the emergency department. He was offered hospitalization for further examination, observation and provision of the necessary medical care, but he categorically refused treatment, the doctors stated.
Baigaziyev had reportedly arrived in Taraz to meet with clients.
Police have opened a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 293 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code (Hooliganism).
The person involved in the incident has been identified and taken to the police. At present, the necessary investigative and operational measures are being carried out in the criminal case, aimed at a comprehensive and objective establishment of all the circumstances of the incident,the regional police department added.
