Laser Guidance Systems Begin Testing on Kazakhstan’s Highways

Laser lights have begun to be tested on republican highways in Kazakhstan.
The joint project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport is designed to improve road safety. The Astana–Karaganda–Almaty highway was chosen as the pilot project.
On the Karaganda–Balkhash section, 11 laser units have already been installed on seven arches. This is the first such experiment in Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the project is to increase drivers’ visibility and orientation during storms, fog, and other poor-visibility conditions, reduce the risk of falling asleep at the wheel, and prevent road accidents.the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The ministry urged Kazakhstanis not to drive while tired as well.
