Kyrgyzstan: Parliament Approves Law on Surname Options

The Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of Kyrgyzstan has approved a bill expanding citizens' choices for surname formats, Orda reports, citing Kloop.
The legislation passed its third reading on February 6. It introduces three different options for writing surnames and patronymics in Kyrgyzstan.
The bill was initiated by lawmakers Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Mirlan Samyikozho, and Amankan Kenzhebaev.
The proposed amendments to the Civil Registry Acts will allow citizens to choose between different surname formats.
