A new round of competition has been announced in Kyrgyzstan to create a new national anthem, Orda.kz reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan.
On April 9–10, the selection committee reviewed all submitted works for a new version of the anthem. However, none of the entries met the required criteria for a state symbol.
Over 700 works were submitted in the past two months. Of those, 285 entries from 165 individuals were officially registered, with all required information provided.
The renewed competition will follow a revised two-stage format: the first phase will select the lyrics, and the second phase will focus on choosing the music. Previous participants are allowed to enter again, but only with a new project.
The commission emphasized that the anthem should reflect the history, culture, aspirations for development, and unity of Kyrgyzstan's people.
The Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Nurlanbek Shakiev, proposed revising the anthem, noting that the current version was adopted after the country’s exit from the Soviet Union. President Sadyr Japarov supported his proposal.
The competition winner will receive a cash prize of 1.5 million Kyrgyz soms.
