Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed the final protocol on border delimitation, announced by delegation heads Kamchybek Tashiev and Saimumin Yatimov at the Ala-Archa state residence on February 21, Orda reports, citing Kloop.

Tashiev, calling it "a historic day," revealed that several documents were prepared for the leaders to sign, including agreements on state borders, energy facilities, water resources, and cross-border road use.

Yatimov noted that implementing the agreement would "put an end to a century-old dispute between the two brotherly republics."

The documents now require approval from both parliaments and presidential signatures.

The total length of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is 972 kilometers. Unresolved border issues in the Batken region had previously led to armed clashes, with the last major clash in September 2022 resulting in over a hundred casualties on both sides.
