Kyiv's "Yurt of Invincibility:" People Gathered to Wish Kazakhstan Happy Republic Day
In Kyiv, Kazakhstan's Republic Day was celebrated in the cultural space "Yurt of Invincibility."
The event took place on the initiative and with the support of the people's deputy of Ukraine, head of the interparliamentary friendship group "Ukraine — Kazakhstan," and co-founder of the project "Yurt of Invincibility," Serhiy Nahornyak.

We are grateful to Kazakhstan's people for their support and assistance. And we are happy to congratulate the fraternal Kazakh people on their national holiday, Republic Day, with an event that we are holding near the "Yurt of Invincibility", which has become a very important project, including a cultural dialogue between our peoples. Today, many young people, Kyiv residents and guests of the city have gathered here. They love Kazakhstan, your people and your culture, said Serhiy Nahornyak.

The Kyiv Academic Municipal Brass Band performed Ukrainian and Kazakh national anthems and Ukrainian folk songs.

The vocal ensemble "Veselat" presented "Song of Friendship," which is dedicated to the friendship of the Ukrainian and Kazakh peoples and has lines in the Kazakh language. The lyrics are by Dmitry Lutsenko, and the music is by Ihor Shamo. They are also the authors of the lyrics and music of the anthem of Kyiv.

Head of the vocal ensemble "Veselad," Victoria Myakota, said that the ensemble participated in the spring celebration of Nauryz, which was also held near the "Yurt of Invincibility."
I remembered the "Song of Brotherhood" written by I. Shamo to the verses of D. Lutsenko, I first heard it and sang it in the National Honored Academic Ukrainian Folk Choir named after Grigory Veryovka in the late 90s. Veryovka's choir performed it in our opera house together with the choir from Kazakhstan that was visiting Kyiv at the time. I remember the surprise of the artists of the Kazakh choir at our performance of this piece. It is written as a real folk song. And when I suggested that the girls of the ensemble learn the song, they enthusiastically started working. We wish to translate one verse into Kazakh and sing in Kazakh. Victoria Myakota said.
Students of the Kyiv School of Ukrainian Dance "Barvinochok" performed the Kazakh dance "Kamazhay." The school's director, Tatyana Levchuk, said that Kazakh dances are more plastic than Ukrainian ones, so people had to put forth effort.
We learned to move smoothly and took the task very seriously, said Tatyana Levchuk.

Groups from the Cherkasy region, where the Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko hails from, also came to congratulate the Kazakh people.

Taras Shevchenko spent 10 years in exile in Kazakhstan. In his paintings and literary works, he often depicted the Kazakh people and their way of life and culture.
The folk song ensemble "Zaspiv" arrived from the city of Zvenyhorodka, where this year, the "Taras Yurt" was installed. The artists performed several songs, including work by Taras Shevchenko. Also from the Cherkasy region came the amateur folk choir "Rodyna," which performed Ukrainian folk songs.
