Timur and Dinara Kulibayev have registered a new holding company at the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), Orda.kz reports, citing the Finmentor.kz financial literacy school’s Telegram channel.
According to Finmentor, the couple established Almex Holding Limited with an authorized capital of $10,000. The company’s director is listed as Zhomart Nurabayev, who also chairs the board of the Almex holding group through which the Kulibayevs control Halyk Bank.
The reasons why one of Kazakhstan’s wealthiest families chose to register a new holding company under the AIFC framework remain unclear. The financial center operates as a separate jurisdiction, with its own court and special legal regime.
The company’s registration coincided with the sale of JSC Caspiy Neft, Timur Kulibayev’s key asset in the oil and gas sector.
