The KUIS committee under Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has a new acting head, as Chair Tenizhan Dzhanibekov has stepped down from his position, Orda.kz reports.
KUIS is a part of Kazakhstan's penal enforcement system.
Colonel of Justice Abay Kaiyrbekov will take over the leadership of the committee.
The Interior Ministry has not disclosed the reasons behind Dzhanibekov's departure.
The leadership change comes amid broader personnel shifts within Kazakhstan's security sector.
Dzhanibekov, who began his career in Russia's internal affairs agencies, hails from the Turkestan region.
His departure follows a corruption scandal within KUIS six months ago when one of his subordinates in northern Kazakhstan was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe.
Dzhanibekov received an official reprimand over the incident.
