KTZ Rejects Antimonopoly Claims, Plans to Appeal to Supreme Court

KTZ has responded to the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition’s (APDC) statement, which alleged violations of competition law by KTZ Express.
According to the company, the Specialized Interdistrict Administrative Court of Astana ruled in 2024 that the APDC’s investigation was unlawful. In September 2024, a private ruling was issued against the antimonopoly authorities, holding them accountable.
The court determined that KTZ Express JSC did not abuse its monopoly position by imposing excessively high prices for military transportation. These transportations are, in fact, commercial, not military. Despite previous court rulings and a prosecutor’s conclusion in favor of KTZ Express JSC, the Astana court still imposed a fine on the company, KTZ stated.
KTZ Express, a subsidiary of KTZ, is preparing to challenge court decisions in the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan.
