Koshmambet Torture Case: Prosecutor Requested Prison Terms

In the Koshmambet torture case, the prosecutor requested prison terms for the former police officers, Orda.kz reports.
Six defendants are in the dock: former employees of the Karasay police department Serik Turpanbayev, Nursultan Khamitov, Baurzhan Sopakov, Arlan Shoibekov, Olzhas Aidarkhanov, and former deputy chief of the Almaty police department Berik Abilbekov.
They are accused of exceeding authority and torture during the January 2022 events.
Among the injured parties is Kyrgyz musician Vikram Ruzahunov.
During the court debate, prosecutor Arystan Alikenov requested three years of imprisonment for each defendant.
Recently, lawyer Elena Zhigalenok, representing Vikram Ruzahunov's interests, announced filing a civil lawsuit.
According to her, Ruzahunov intends to collect 61 million tenge from the defendants as compensation for moral and material damage.
