Khromtau Akim Detained on Bribery Charges

On November 11, news surfaced that Sagyndyk Shabykbayev, the akim of Khromtau, is under investigation on suspicion of bribery, Orda.kz reports.
He has been placed in a temporary detention facility, and the court has approved his arrest for two months.
According to sources, Shabykbayev allegedly received a bribe from a local businessman.
The 40-year-old official has served as akim of Khromtau since September 2023.
