The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has launched a new program offering undocumented immigrants the option to return to their home countries voluntarily. Those who choose to participate will have their airfare covered and receive $1,000 in assistance, the Kazakh embassy reminded, Orda.kz reports.
Kazakhstanis without legal immigration status are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to avoid potential legal consequences.
This could be an important step toward a legal resolution of the current situation and preserving the right to reenter the United States in the future,
the embassy noted.
Applications for the program can be submitted via the CBP Home app.
Last week, more than 100 undocumented persons from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan were deported from the U.S.
