Kazakhstan sells oil, uranium, and copper abroad and imports smartphones, cars, and medicines, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Trade and Integration, in 2024, Kazakhstan earned over $81 billion from exports, with oil accounting for more than half of this amount — $42.9 billion. Oil alone made up 52.5% of all exports.
Other key exports included:
- Uranium ($4.6 billion)
- Copper and copper cathodes ($4.1 billion)
- Copper ore and concentrates ($3.2 billion)
Kazakhstan also exported ferroalloys, gas, wheat, and petroleum products.
The country imported mainly cars ($2.3 billion), airplanes and helicopters ($1.8 billion), medicines ($1.7 billion), and telecommunications equipment. Computer equipment and auto parts were also among the most frequently imported items.
In January 2025 alone, Kazakhstan exported $4.5 billion worth of products, with oil making up 60% of that figure. Imports that month exceeded $2.8 billion, mainly consisting of smartphones, car bodies, medicines, and assembled vehicles.
Kazakhstan’s main trading partners in 2024 were China, Russia, and Italy — these three countries accounted for most of exports and imports.
