President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev met with Alikhan Smailov, Chair of the Supreme Audit Chamber, who presented the agency's 2024 performance results, Orda.kz reports.
According to Aqorda, auditors inspected 214 facilities, examining financial flows of approximately 11 trillion tenge. They discovered systemic issues in construction, industrial project financing, and agricultural subsidies.
The audit revealed violations amounting to 862 billion tenge, with a record 135 billion tenge recovered to the budget - five times more than in 2023.
The Supreme Audit Chamber sent recommendations to the government and directives to state bodies to address these issues. The auditors plan to increase inspections in 2025.
On the instructions of the head of state, they will check the execution of the budgets of the cities of Astana and Almaty, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay and Jambyl regions, as well as the Samruk-Kazyna fund, the national company Kazatomprom, the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), the National Bank, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the presidential press service reported.
The audit will also encompass the science, defense, law enforcement, sports, and social security sectors.
The President directed the continuation of state audit improvements, particularly in implementing digital solutions for strict budget expenditure control.
