Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about constructing a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan and the possible participation of Rosatom, Orda.kz reports.
If Kazakhstan is going to implement its projects in the field of nuclear energy, then, of course, like any customer, it has the right to choose the most acceptable technological solutions and financial schemes for itself, said Vladimir Putin.
He emphasized that Rosatom is the largest company of its kind, including in terms of the number of nuclear power plants under construction abroad. Putin said the company does not simply build a power plant but, as a rule, "creates an industry" in a country.
We train personnel, deliver the necessary materials, collect used fuel, and so on. We contribute to the development of science in the nuclear sphere. And, of course, for the President of Kazakhstan, our Kazakh colleagues, friends, this type of activity is not new. They are not starting from scratch. They have enterprises for uranium mining, for work in this area. They are perfectly aware of what they want, what they are ready to pay for it and what they want to get. That is why we are having such a very professional conversation,he added.
Putin stated that if Kazakhstan expresses a desire for joint work, then this is possible.
Rosatom also has such experience of cooperation with foreign partners. We discussed this yesterday as well. The final decision is always up to the customer. But I think that our cooperation with Kazakhstan in this area is quite possible, Putin said.
He added, "It would be strange if Kazakhstan, rich in uranium, were only engaged in its extraction and export.”
