Kazakhstan's National Security Committee (KNB) will not investigate "information attacks" on Majilis deputies who spoke out against LGBT, Orda.kz reports.
The head of the KNB, Yermek Sagimbayev, explained that the articles of the Criminal Code concerning insulting deputies and criticizing their activities on the Internet do not fall within the KNB's capacity.
He also recalled that a petition to ban "LGBT propaganda" had previously been considered and was partially supported.
In January 2025, Majilis member Yedil Zhanbyrshin demanded that those who supported LGBT and organized an "information war" against parliamentarians be found and punished.
He also insisted that the petition for a complete ban on LGBT propaganda be accepted without changes.
